Good morning afternoon everyone. Currently writing this from the Fort Lauderdale airport which honestly may be one of the worst airports in the country.
They are denying my girlfriend wine because her Florida ID is vertical, which is really preventing her from getting in the right state of mind for this flight. I am hype to get back to New York tonight.
I’ve been on a little trip down here since last newsletter and I have some thoughts.
Florida is a lot like New York except you need a car, the weather is better, the communities are gated, and the people don’t dress very well. So not much like New York at all actually.
But with the right model Porsche and a Miami high-rise, I could actually see myself living here.
In today’s newsletter we have an exclusive Coachella scene report from my friend, a look at Bottega Veneta’s new furniture line, and more. Let’s get into it—
Live on the Ground from Indio Valley
I’ve never been to Coachella but the lineup this year is pretty great. Admittedly I would love to be seeing Lana Del Rey. But my friend Brittany has all coverage you’ve been dying to hear if you’re too broke to go:
The indie sleaze renaissance is in full swing. Channeling your inner angsty teen has never looked so good or cost so much. Deplatform Depop resellers now!
Becoming the person you wanted to be at 14 is not only possible now, but chic. Adult money is liberating, but with great power comes great responsibility. We are one cycle removed from unironic flower crowns and gladiator sandals. (Those who do not remember history are doomed to repeat it, etc.) *Editor’s Note : wrote a great new article about this.
However, nostalgia will unfortunately never go out of style, so it’s probably time to reactivate your tumblr and scroll the #aesthetic tag for inspo just in case.
As always at Coachella, it’s a vibes first, music second type of festival. But the lineup delivered great sets and even better guests (A$AP Rocky twice in a weekend? Olivia Rodrigo? Kesha? Childish Gambino? Billie Eilish?) We love famous people parading around their equally as famous friends for our entertainment. We all get by with a little help from our friends after all.

Bottega Veneta’s new furniture collaboration takes cues from Le Corbusier. The house’s esteemed creative director, Mathieu Blazy, has a fondness for Le Corbusier’s work, and unveiled the collaboration at Milan Design Week. Bottega’s take on the LC14 Tabouret side table, which was originally inspired by a whiskey box, uses the brands famous Intreccio weaving technique, and features bright colors reminiscent of the brands bags. The installation, titled ‘On the Rocks’ is on display until the 20th. I am sure The Stanza will have this on their Instagram shortly.
Today is tax day across the USA. If you are reading this and haven’t filed yet I am sorry for inducing panic. File an extension! Taxes become increasingly complicated the more money you make which really blows. My favorite IRS related lore is that David Foster Wallace, whose posthumous novel ‘The Pale King’ satirizes the agency, was assassinated because he uncovered how many people would need to stop paying taxes for society to collapse.
Consumers keep spending and the economy keeps growing. March consumer sales data showed a 0.7% increase month over month adjusted for inflation. Despite anxieties around the economy, and increasing consumer credit card usage, growing wages have sustained allowing the greatest consumer cohort in the world to keep swiping. If there’s one thing Americans are GREAT at, its spending money.
Sable’s just changed their bagel recipe.
wrote about the Upper East Side bagel shop and deli changing their recipe and I am dying to try now. I live right by here so I’m going to try and grab one tomorrow morning after I workout.Taylor Swift is ending friendships. The Cut just published an article breaking down how many Swifties are ending close friendships over their love and admiration for the popstar.
Manhattan Turn, a 25-year-old Swiftie in Alberta, Canada, says she’s walked away from friendships with the feeling that no one “gets it.” Turn started listening to Swift in 2020 while going through a difficult situationship. After her college best friend went through her own breakup in 2021, Turn suggested that she, too, listen to Swift. “But every time I played Taylor’s songs, she’d roll her eyes or change the subject,” she says. Tension built in the friendship after Turn’s now-ex-friend called her “stupid” for flying to Europe for Swift’s tour. When she didn’t come to Turn’s 25th-birthday party in April 2023, their ten-year friendship was over.
This is honestly really sad. Friends are around to disagree with us and keep us in check, and the internet and fandom has increasingly turned celebrities and billionaires who couldn’t care less about about well being into close relationships for many people. Her music is pretty garbage too.
Shit flight’s boarding. Gotta go! See you back in New York.
