Good morning, I have a complaint. Well, two complaints. First being WeWork going bankrupt. What’s going to happen with that? I don’t want to switch coworking spaces, mainly because WeWork is free because you can just sneak in.
Okay, second complaint: so many brands ad creatives are honestly so BORING.
Today I want to break down some examples of creative digital ads I’ve been seeing lately, specifically focusing on GIFS. These short animations are eye catching, and enable brands to get creative with unique compositions and typographic mixtures. Let’s GOOOOOOOO.
Paloma Wool
I adore this example from Paloma Wool which creatively mixes the weather app interface we all know and love with examples of looks that fit each distinct climate. While this ad could have just been static images of the clothes, Paloma took it to another level: creating an eye catching visual that contextualizes the product in a meta way.
Balenciaga
Similarly, Balenciaga mixed the UI interface of their online store with this video of a woman scrolling, selecting which (ugly) massive pants she’s going to purchase. I am not a fan of Balenciaga personally, but I do enjoy this creative. It resonates with consumers because it shows a realistic interpretation of how we shop for clothes. It’s chill.
Ganni
This example from Ganni splitscreens two seperate photoshoots, finding ways to intermix the two with harmonious compositions in the center.
Proenza Schouler
If you’re feeling lazy, simply rapid fire images from your brands campaign with quick pauses on the items you want to focus on.
Closing Thoughts
As we enter the holiday season and ad budgets are exponentially increasing, creating distinctive, eye catching visuals for your campaigns is an excellent way to cut through the noise and present your products in interesting ways. No more boring ads please.
