GM everyone. Happy Friday.
Last night I was in SoHo for the How Long Gone party at the Morjas pop-up store. Their collaborative boat shoe is really nice in-hand but I ended up purchasing a pair of loafers I’ve had my eyes on for quite some time.
I’ve heard great things about Morjas, but they don’t do wholesale and I think trying on a pair of loafers in-person is critical to getting the right size. The Morjas employees were really nice and didn’t even make me wear those dumb footies.
Anyway, they’ll be arriving at my doorstep next week so if you see me wincing in pain downtown as I break them in please offer me a chair and a band-aid.

thinks the hottest color of the Summer is neon green. Whether it be Charli XCX’s new album (I listened to it on the drive home last night), the Throwing Fits x Adidas, the Nike Volt Pop Up, or Porsche, it feels like this is the Summer of slime green. Pantone said it would be the year of ‘peach fuzz’ and that could not have been more wrong. Why does Pantone name the color of the year before it even starts?
The FDA rescinded its Juul ban. The late 2010s teen vaping scare led to Juul’s expansive line of flavored pods being taken off the market. They even made a stupid f*cking documentary about this. But now, after further review they’ve been given the all clear. Probably little too late for the company, whose valuation peaked in 2020 at over $10 billion, and now sits at just $450 million. But if they decide to bring back Mint pods… I’d be bullish on investing. Mint pods reintroduction would literally end Zyn as we know it, and all of the ugly disposable vapes laying in the gutters. I was just talking last night about how Juul really was one of the best designed consumer products of all time. So sleek.
Byline is having a one year anniversary party next week. Downtown’s favorite publication (the successor to the hugely popular Drunken Canal) is turning one year old and celebrating on June 12th! My friend Sammy had a great article in one of their first issues about collecting NYC restaurant matchbooks. Go read that.
Twitter (X) is the real work app. Data shows peak hours for scrolling the X timeline happens to coincide with everyone’s 9-5. I think we can all admit to pausing the grind from time to time and checking the feed for stimulation. Which begs the question? LinkedIn literally exists for professional networking, but if no one is using it during work hours, does that make X the real app for get content seen by professionals? I told someone the other day… twitter is my favorite app.
OKAY GOTTA RUN! Hope you all have a great weekend. I am going to leave you with this meme which sort of encapsulates the feeling I have when people ask what I do and I say “I write a Substack” —
