GM all. It snowed last night??? After I finish writing this I am going to quickly throw on some boots and go check this out. I want to dedicate the majority of today’s newsletter to admiring the new Our Legacy collection, but first some headlines—
Last week, Microsoft briefly became the most valuable company in the world by market cap. As Microsoft has made major inroads with their partnership with OpenAI, investors are rallying behind the stock. While Apple prepares to drop a VR headset I predict will be a rare flop for the company, its interesting to examine the stark differences between the companies product strategies. I’ve no doubt when Apple decides to fully integrate AI into the iPhone, it will be a sea change for the industry.
5 guys are starting a women’s only club in NYC. Emily Sundberg did a great deep dive on this on her Substack I highly recommend leaving. Apparently, this now defunct subletting startup and is pivoting to becoming a girls club. I’m sure this will work out.
Bode and Nike are coming for the Samba wave. With a revived 70s Nike silhouette and a simple black and white colorway, Bode and Nike appear to be coming after the same crowd wearing Wales Bonner Adidas. While the shoe is kind of nice, I am not sure if this is going to work out well. Lately, Nike has been slow to release timely product, and it may be too late. I wear Sambas and have been considering trashing mine for some Margiela’s.
Okay I have been dying to discuss the new Our Legacy collection so let’s get into it.
Titled ‘Feast’, the collection is not a departure from OL’s classic formula of wearable but elevated European designs, but rather an evolution. The muted tones, sans a few blush pink items, are perfectly Autumnal. The chunky knits, eclectic patterns, and perfectly tailored jackets are to die for.
Christopher Nying has mastered the art of creating clothing that is not showy in any way, but is perfectly subtle, and just off kilter enough to create a conversation. I have become obsessed with OL and can’t stop buying it. I’ve currently been wearing this Sonar Knit basically everyday since buying it. Also just realizing this coat I’ve been eyeing is on sale 👀
I love the chunky socks in this collection. Super stoked to see this hit shelves this Fall. Someone on twitter wrote this collection was designed for “… leaving someone’s apartment on a cold London morning.” Change that to New York and you’ve got my Fall ‘24 vibe.
Okay talk to you all tomorrow!
