HEY WHAT’S GOOD EVERYONE.
Over the weekend, I was interviewed in The Guardian about On Running’s recent prominence, and their new Cloudboom Strike LS shoe debuting at the Olympics.
Big shout out to the author, Luaren Cochrane for reaching out. Go give it a read.

Joe Biden Drops Out of the Presidential Race, Charli xcx Endorses Kamala Harris. The past few weeks of turmoil facing the Biden campaign after his disastrous debate performance, made the premise of him dropping out seem like a foregone conclusion. Despite the stubbornness of an 81 year old man, the serious decline in campaign fundraising was most likely the final nail in the coffin for President’s ambitions. When the mega-wealthy democratic donors refused to bankroll him, he had to draw up a Sunday afternoon sign-off akin to a ‘celebrity divorce announcement’ Will we ever even see him again?
After dropping out, he endorsed Kamala Harris, who in the weeks since the debate has been the subject of numerous memes highlighting her awkward on-camera moments to a Von Dutch soundtrack. Whether it be classic lines like ‘Did you just fall out of a coconut tree?’ or ‘what can be, unburdened by what has been’ the Veep is being transformed online right before our own eyes. Charli xcx tweeted out her support, simply saying “kamala IS brat”
The Harris team is jumping on this unexpected opportunity by rebranding the old JoeBidenHQ X account into a Kamala HQ account with a brat themed cover photo.
Nothing is funnier to me than one of the most turbulent election cycles in history being punctuated by the best memes we’ve seen in years…
This private equity firm is recruiting athletes to its roster. Athletes can often struggle post-career if they are not wise with their finances. Just ask Allen Iverson. But today, former pros like Jason Kelce are investing in consumer brands, and oftentimes helping them market themselves, via a private equity firm called Patricof Co.
They’ve teamed up with hundreds of athletes like Mr. Kelce, as well as Joe Burrow and Carmelo Anthony, to invest millions of dollars into established consumer brands, in hopes of skyrocketing value and charting out an exit. Some deals have included investments into Kodiak protein pancakes, Old Smokey moonshine, and a Goldin, a collectibles marketplace. Patricof is run by Mark Patricof, a former media exec, as well as Matt Siegel (formerly at RocNation) The firm is the first of its kind, recruiting big name talent for investments in this product category, and leaning into classic sports marketing tactics to boost their investments profile. Only time will be able to tell how many of these consumer investments will be massive successes, overall the PE deals in this space have been severely diminished, so much so that Carlyle completely pulled out of investing in U.S. based consumer brands.
When are skincare products too old to use? The NYT wrote up a guide on when to throw out old skincare products. Medical professionals noted that most products that do not have a prescription-level ingredient lack labeling that clearly states when a product has gone bad, and they warn that topicals can easily be contaminated with bacteria over time, which can cause a number of skincare issues. Here’s a tip: if you don’t remember buying it recently DON’T USE IT. Why are we hoarding skincare now? Use it and get new ones.
Bella Hadid is Reportedly Suing Adidas. ICYMI, Hadid was announced as the face of Adidas’ SL72 sneaker campaign. But it was quickly noted that the shoe’s debut was at the 1972 Olympics, where 11 Israeli athletes were killed by terrorists, leading to Adidas to apologize and drop the campaign, seemingly due to Hadid’s support for Palestine. The brand said—
“We are conscious that connections have been made to tragic historical events — though these are completely unintentional — and we apologize for any upset or distress caused,”
Now Hadid is lawyering up, gearing up to sue Adidas for their mismanagement of this PR debacle. Not off to a great start…
