I was privileged to receive an invite to the Grailed archival sale at their offices last night. The sale was a collection of some of their top seller’s most valuable jawns. So today’s newsletter is dedicated to breaking down all of the gems I saw behind closed doors. Let’s not waste anytime:
Pastelle
The holy grail (not for sale) was the iconic Pastelle jacket from Kanye West’s first, defunct foray into fashion. This jacket has a storied history and several (failed) revival attempts. However, word on the street the brand is making a return at this year’s ComplexCon. I hope it doesn’t: i don’t want to see 1,000 bros rocking this downtown.
Chrome Hearts
The sale featured a TON of Chrome Hearts, from accessories like bags and sunglasses (and a straw hat) as well as pants. I know its tacky but I can’t help but love it.
Raf Simons
Raf Simons… all kinds of crazy colors. Its a Grailed event, so you know we had Raf on deck. Not only did they have this incredible parka featuring Joy Division artwork, we also had several ‘Virginia Creeper’ pieces. Plus, they had the Vans.
Also throwing on this construction jacket from his first Calvin Klein show (which I think will see a resurgence in due time)
Louis Vuitton
The famous varsity jacket from Virgil Abloh’s LV era was there, as well as this very cozy looking fleece.
Balenciaga
These pants featuring emblazoned with a photo of Swiss Alps were from one of Demna’s first shows. I remember being amazed by them way back in 2017. Very cool to see in person.
Maison Margiela
One of the standout Margiela pieces was this waved denim jacket that seemed to weigh 1000 pounds.
Gucci
Featuring works from the former Gucci Creative Director who will remain nameless (for obvious reasons) I am loving the leather jacket.
Bottega Venetta
The only thing I even considered copping was this incredible Bottega Veneta double breasted jacket. The only thing is I work remote so I don’t really wear suits anymore and they didn’t have the pants.
Bags
An incredible selection of Birkins to Chanel to many LV statement bags.
Surreal Experience
Being able to see so many of these incredible pieces in person was amazing. While I walked away empty handed this time, its inspired me to hop back on Grailed and get copping.
Huge shout out to Ashton, Phil, and the entire Grailed familia. I remember I made all my money in high school reselling Supreme on Grailed. Truly a full circle moment.
