Unplain looks like a very thorough Parsons project that was very unironically inspired by LiveJournal. Founded by a creative director/designer with an impressive albeit small brand-heavy client list, it's like she wanted to show she knows what she's doing/what she can do without client restraints. For me, the branding is far too heavy handed without an interesting product lineup to make it actually work. In such a saturated market it just has to come down to product - and with preexisting super vetted products like the Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel pads and Vintner's Daughter Serum (also F.Miller, Monastery, Tata Harper, Furtuna Skin, May Lindstrom, etc etc) I don't think a gimmicky and confusing to navigate website or interesting content would sway me. Actually it does kind of the opposite...but alas, I am a millenial. Also why aren't the pads compostable or biodegradable? Do we NEED the secondary packaging?? The product looks decent enough, but why isn't the brand leaning in to Gen Z in an IRL way instead of the online way? Yay for being recyclable and using soy ink etc., but give us something tangibly new and different that could possibly influence the industry at large. Don't get me wrong she's doing a TON right and I'd hire her for CD/Design, it just feels far too niche to be profitable, especially at their price point.
That Lorde remix is 🔥🔥🔥
So fire
Unplain reminds of MUJI skincare but pricier

I was just about to comment this! Glad I'm not the only one
