Good morning everyone, happy Cyber Monday. Steven from Vigyl Candle, who I interviewed over the weekend, is sending me some to try. Will report back.
On a personal note, I am currently having some withdrawals. I am giving up nicotine and peanut butter, both things I unfortunately love but are detrimental to my health goals for 2024. Time to lock in.
Some Headlines & Thoughts
Palace is collaborating with Ugg, releasing a new slipper and cozy rug.
The ‘We’re (fill in the blank)’ trend has taken over TikTok. This easily replicable meme was originally posted by Brandon Cohen last month, but I am just now seeing other creators use this ad nauseam. How long till brands hop on the trend in the most cringe way possible?
GQ put together a list of great furniture and home goods Cyber Monday Deals.
Okay let’s get into today’s newsletter topic: Great Beverage Packaging Design. Anytime I walk into Whole Foods, I love to take a look at what new beverages are available and what packaging trends are popping up. This is a crowded, competitive space… so nailing the packaging is key to standing out and making sales. Here are some interesting examples:
Swee Kombucha
I love Swee Kombucha’s label, which colorfully breaks down the ingredient list and their respective percentages right on the bottle, making for a unique design as well.
Ghia
Their non-alcoholic apéritif has been on moodboards for years, but I have to give them props. The ribbed design on the new bottles, the standout serif font, its really well done.
Mayawell
There is seldom anything sexy to say about a probiotic beverage, and often times the visual representation of this concept leaves much to be desired. I appreciate how Mayawell cuts to the chase and tells us what their beverage is for in clean typography. The colors are nice too. This I would drink.
Yola Mezcal
The older I get the more I gravitate toward mezcal over tequila. I want something that kind of tasted bad. This simple packaging design for Yola Mezcal is bright and clean, with a provocative pop of red on the bottleneck. This stands out compared how other companies typically present mezcal, which is in darker, more aged looking bottles (thinking of Casamigos)
Nothing Beer
I thought this company, Nothing, just made stupid looking phones you can see through. But I guess they make beer. Either way, I do like this simple, clean, metallic design. It feels like a beer a robot would drink. Sit back and crack one of these with our new AI overlords.
Have a Great Day
Okay everyone, have a good one. Earnestly, this is an complex time of year. Many people are going all gas no brakes (me obv) while others are BIG chilling. No matter what mindset you’re in, its a good time to reflect on the past year and set intentions for ‘24. LFG.
Talk to you tomorrow.
