GM everyone. Did you know 16 million people are expected to call off work today post-Super Bowl, per Bloomberg. If you call off work because you were up a little late, I wish you all the best in your career, but it’s not looking good.
My weekend was wild, let me do a quick recap—
Friday I met with friends and went to Isaac Hindin-Miller’s NYFW party at Jean’s. It was fun but merely just a pre-game before we went to Basement, an underground techno club in Queen’s.
Saturday I went on a carb binge, bagel for breakfast, pizza for lunch, and cacio y pepe in Williamsburg for dinner.
This was fuel for Sunday, when I ran 13 miles around Manhattan. I haven’t ran that long since my last half marathon so my legs are feeling cooked today.
Anyway, let’s get into a hodgepodge of news—
The Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl, ending a wild NFL season notably marked by a surge in sports gambling and a media fascination with Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s budding romance. Did you really expect the NFL scriptwriters to have it any other way? Joe Biden is claiming credit.
Some of the most notable ads are as follows—
Duolingo’s unhinged BBL ad. (I have many thoughts on their marketing strategy)
Travis Kelce wore a horrible Mike Amiri fit to the game. Like what else do you expect? I am on record saying he dresses so bad.
Sandy Liang had their FW24 show in Chelsea. The collection was blissfully simple and cohesive. I really enjoy some of the grey fur trim on the jackets, and the tailoring overall. I am excited to see some of these looks in the wild later this year.
L’Oreal has won the Miu Miu beauty license, with perfumes slated to launch in 2025. The LES is about to be smelling good.
Is there a tech stock bubble? The S&P 500 closed above 5000 for the first time ever going into the weekend. But the vast majority of these gains are being suspended on the back of surging tech stocks. If you remove the Magnificent 7, the market is really down… Could this be a bubble? Only time will tell.
Kanye dropped his new album ‘Vultures’. I’ve some thoughts on the album and his career progression, but I will save those for later this week.
Supreme is teasing its SS24 collection. Ten years ago I used to get HYPEEE for days like this. I haven’t purchased Supreme in awhile, but this fur jacket is calling my name.
Okay that’s all for today! See you tomorrow!
