Good morning everyone. Every day I typically will dedicate this daily newsletter to covering a specific topic, but there has been so much interesting news the last day or so. So I am dedicating this newsletter to giving brief thoughts and analysis on some of the TOP stories. Letβs go m8.
RIP Apple Card π
Letβs talk about my credit card. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple and Goldman Sachs are ending their partnership covering consumer credit and savings. This news is devastating to me. I love throwing down this hunk of titanium at a bar or dinner table. The clank is beautifulβ¦ until someone tries to compare the benefits theyβre getting from their card is better than mine. Like ok bro idc you have the PURPLE amex. RIP.
Emma Chamberlain x Warby Parker
I love this new video from Warby Parker & Emma Chamberlain to promo her new collection. The concept of Emma being a casting director with these pigeons is brilliant, unexpected, and very funny! I think the We need more fun in advertising. Cinematography is also on point.
The birds even made it into the photoshoot.
NYT: Can Instagrammable Design Lure Young Workers Back?
Yesterday, the New York Times took showed us the inside of a place I didnβt suspect Iβd ever see: the Magic Spoon office. And its exactly what Iβd expect: jarring.
The article explores how companies are redesigning their spaces to attract workers back into the office. I think this concept that making your space βInstagrammableβ as a means to attract workers is interesting, but only if executed well. I donβt love that much color thoughβ¦
As a remote worker, I can go anywhere. I find the normal bliss of WeWork or Equinox to be the ideal environment for productivity. Or just staying at my apartment. But if there was one dream space Iβd love to work from everyday? Aman Tokyo. But its not in New York so.
District Vision x New Balance
My fav activewear brand, District Vision, is dropping a collab with New Balance. Super excited to see what theyβre doing.
New Mad Happy Store
Unfortunately, I really like the new Mad Happy store on Fairfax in LA. The bright windows (even a skylight), sparse exterior, and clean lines. Its beautiful. Now Mad Happy as a brand? Wouldnβt be caught dead.
Emma Stone W Mag Cover
Emma Stone is on the cover of W Mag to promo the new Yoros Lanthimos film βPoor Thingsβ This sepia toned shoot is beautiful, so well done. I love how she almost disappears in some of these expansive photos. This distance creates an allure which is fulfilled on some of the more intimate close ups. I am excited to see this film.
Spotify Wrapped
Yesterday, Instagram celebrated its most annoying day of the year: Spotify Wrapped. I use Apple Music, which does a half hearted attempt at recapping the year, but I prefer the simplicity. Apple tells you your top artists, top songs, and makes a playlist. I donβt need to know what region of the world other people with similar music interests live.
Wondering what my list looks like? Iβm going to keep that to myself LOL.
Robert DeNiro Bomber Jacket Photo
This photo of Robert DeNiro in a classic bomber jacket has resurfaced and left the menswear world shaking. Will the bomber jacket come back? The Alpha Industries company benefitted from the β15 explosion of bombers. They are sort of timeless. I think in 2024 we will see more of these. Also dropping in this amazing still from one of my fav films, βHeatβ
This is what I look like when I am trying to get a day of res somewhere that doesnβt use OpenTable.
Richard Kindβs Venmo History
Famed βCurb Your Enthusiasmβ actor Richard Kind is on Venmo apparently according this Twitter user. His payment history is hilarious. Fruit. Party. Golf. That is the three things a man needs in life. I met him at Orwasherβs, he was very nice.
Goodbye
The pull of the weekend is strong. I am eagerly anticipating a response from tomorrowβs newsletter subject. Brace yourselves if they reply to my email. LATER H8RS.
