3 Workwear Jackets You Need to Send Slack Messages and Emails this Fall
plus a bunch of other news...
GM everyone hope you all had a great weekend. I spent mine hanging out at various stores in Williamsburg, eating sushi, working, running a half marathon, and watching The Substance.
My short review: great movie, f*cking gross, never need to watch again. ⭐️ 7/10

SSENSE Knows How to Make Good Social Content
Which e-commerce retailer is doing a better job at making creative social content than SSENSE?
They recently dropped a series of arcade-inspired ads to promote new FW24 collections available on site.
SSENSE’s creative director, Thom Bettridge said this on LinkedIn—
My favorite ads are often ones that take the emotion of a product and manifest it as an alternate reality. In that sense, good ads serve as the Freudian dream version of what they are selling, the manifestation of pure desire without the laws of physics. For these SSENSE FW24 videos, I tried to manifest the feeling that shopping online gives me (and I imagine others): e-commerce as an arcade machine where you win your future self.
Bettridge and entire creative team at SSENSE nail the Sims-like feeling you get when you’re filling up your shopping cart online.
Whether it be videos like this, or the brands hilarious memes comprised of product photography, they deeply understand their audience and continue to create content that sets the bar.
Takeaway: For all of my brand marketers out there, a great deliverable relies on a keen understanding of audience, story, execution, and timing. When all of these factors are considered and find alignment: you get the chance to make really creative ads like the one above that create true fans of your brand.
Williamsburg’s New Vintage Gem
Kathleen Sorbara is not new to opening curated vintage stores.
After previously operating Brooklyn’s Chickee’s (both a men and women’s store) the 29 year old decided to open a larger space at 326 Wythe Avenue.
Taking inspiration from classic department store names (Barney’s, Bergforf Goodman, etc.) she gave the new store her namesake.
Sorbara’s is a beautiful vintage shop with a tightly curated selection of designer brands.
On a trip recently I scoped out some perfectly worn Ralph Lauren fatigues, a great selection of stone-washed 90s Levi’s, and this lightweight Jil Sander trench coat.
New York is experiencing a curated vintage renaissance at the moment with & Son offering a vast selection in their basement, or Luke’s more hyped up designer collection on Broome St.
I highly recommend making a stop into Sorbara’s next time you’re in Williamsburg.
